The Okavango Delta |
 Scenic flights in small, fixed wing planes or helicopters over this area offer amazing views of this unique ecosystem. Many of the lodges in Botswana are only easily accessible by light aircraft and thus scenic flights are part of the whole experience of your stay. Your pilot will transfer you in a five seater Cessna 206 or 210, or perhaps a slightly larger Caravan aircraft. These flights usually take between 20 minutes and an hour depending on your exact destination and the plane will fly low level over the Delta allowing you fantastic opportunities for photography. The helicopter flights are best arranged in advance or on arrival in Maun as they are not available from every lodge in the Delta. Hot air ballooning is not available in this area due to the risks of landing in areas inaccessible by vehicle."

Damaraland |
 This mountainous area of Namibia is situated between the extreme desert aridity of the skeleton coast and the central plateau. Damaraland offers spectacular scenery and a variety of attractions ranging from fascinating geological formations to unique vegetation and the largest collection of ancient rock art in Southern Africa.
Highlights include the Brandberg Mountain, Namibia's highest, Twyfelfontein rock etchings, Burnt Mountain and the Petrified Forest. A scenic flight is the perfect way to gain a unique view of this area and the dry riverbeds that wind their way relentlessly through the landscape. Another alternative is to take a hot air balloon excursion over Damaraland, a very tranquil experience with the vivid, early morning light colouring the rust-red boulders.

Fish River Canyon |
 Light aircraft flights in this area are a great way to view this extensive canyon from a perpective not available from the ground. Excursions vary in length and allow visitors to gain an excellent impression of the size of this landmark. These flights are offered from the majority of lodges in the area but it is best to book in advance as planes may not always be available. Flights are also weather dependent.

Sesriem & Sossusvlei |
 An early morning hot air balloon excursion is this is a perfect way to view the vast desert landscape and a real once in a lifetime experience. You will set off from Sesriem or the NamibRand Nature Reserve at sunrise, rising into the cool morning air to drift silently over the mountains and dunes of the ancient Namib Desert. After approximately one hour you will land close to the support vehicle and celebrate your adventure with a champagne breakfast. Light aircraft scenic flights are also available from many of the lodges close to Sesriem and these can be more reasonably priced than ballooning, depending on the number of participants.

Skeleton Coast National Park |
 The relatively inaccessible Skeleton Coast National Park runs along the northern coastal area of Namibia, from Swakopmund all the way to the Angolan border. The southern section of the Park comprises the Tourist Recreation Area and stretches from Swakopmund to the Ugab River. This area is accessible to self-driving visitors, although a permit is required. North of the Recreation Area, a field of crescent shaped dunes stretches along the coast from Torra Bay to the Angolan border.
Scenic flights to the southern area can be easily arranged from Swakopmund and vary in length from 1.5 hours to a full day including a stopover and lunch. The northern and most remote section of the Park is only accessible by specialist fly-in safari operators offering excursions starting from 4 days in length. Visitors to this section will marvel at the endless stretches of uninhabited coastline, unique flora and fauna and vast plains that are visible from the air. The whole park area is a stunning reminder of the power of nature, and it is sobering to visit such a timeless wilderness.

Swakopmund |
 Scenic flights from Swakopmund vary from short hour long hops up the coast to full day excursions. You may choose to fly over the desolate Skeleton Coast to view seal colonies and shipwrecks, or the Kuiseb River Valley and Sandwich Harbour. Flights run to the south over the Namib Desert and Sossusvlei, or to the north via the Skeleton coast to the mountains of Damaraland. For visitors with limited time, Swakopmund is a good base for day trip flights to visit Fish River Canyon, Luderitz or the Himba tribes in the far north. Hot air ballooning trips are also available from a base just inland of Swakopmund.
