safariThe scenery surrounding this beautiful city lends itself perfectly to a good number of walking trails, ranging from easy strolls through the beautiful Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens to a more strenuous hike up Table Mountain or Lion's Head. A picturesque morning's drive will bring you to Cape Point where you can enjoy short walks through the unique fynbos flora.

A great variety of adventure sports can also be arranged. These vary from climbing and abseiling around the Table Mountain area & shark diving with infamous Great Whites just off the coast, to more sedate horse riding along the Atlantic & Indian Ocean coastlines as well as in the rolling hills of the nearby winelands. Parachuting is also on offer, for a spectacular view of this cosmopolitan area! Sea kayaking is an excellent way to explore the scenically beautiful coastline. In addition, Cape Town is home to some unique golf courses with spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and Table Mountain, and with the classic "link" course layout.

Drakensberg

This beautiful highland area offers a wide range of activities amidst some of the most pristine mountain scenery in the Southern Africa region. Many hiking routes wind through mountain passes and along ridges with breathtaking views into the surrounding valleys. Lush vegetation, waterfalls and clear streams provide shade and relaxing rest stops along the way. Hikes vary from relatively easy half-day walks to strenuous overnight hikes with caves designated as sheltered camping spots.

Trout fishing is another popular pastime in the Drakensberg, the pristine streams are the perfect place to spend a relaxing afternoon. Some of the many other activities which can be arranged in the Drakensberg include mountain biking, climbing and abseiling and scenic helicopter flights. Several golf courses are also available, all with amazing views of the surrounding mountains.

Garden Route

This section of beautiful coastline stretches along South Africa's south west coast and covers indigenous forest, lagoons and sand dunes as well as some beautiful beaches. Enjoy caving in the Cango Caves, Oudtshoorn, Great White shark diving from many towns along the coast, abseiling in the Storm's River area and gorge swinging & bungee jumping in Plettenberg Bay & Mossel Bay.

Golfers will enjoy the beautiful scenery surrounding the courses along the Garden Route. Port Elizabeth is home to the Milnerton Golf Club which is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the wildlife sanctuary of Rietvlei to the east. The St. Andrews course in Port Alfred is one of South Africa's most famous.

Zimbabwe

Eastern Highlands

The cool uplands stretching between Zimbabwe & neighbouring Mozambique are a lush respite from the heat of Zimbabwe's lowland areas. Lush valleys, clear streams and meadows of wildflowers remind visitors of European mountain ranges, with the added interest of the wide variety of animal and bird life that can be seen here. Walking varies from short day hikes with frequent stops at clear, refreshing pools to strenuous hikes offering rewarding views across the endless vistas of Zimbabwe & into Mozambique. Trout fishing can be arranged throughout the Eastern Highlands, as can horse riding and golf.

Zimbabwe

Victoria Falls

There is a lot more to the area surrounding Victoria Falls than the spectacular waterfalls themselves. The Victoria Falls National Park runs alongside the Zambezi River and is home to many species including elephant and hippo. The riverside walks through lush vegetation and past ancient baobab trees can be exhilarating!

Fishing trips on the Zambezi can be arranged from the town, as can numerous other activities including white water rafting, bungee jumping from the bridge separating Zimbabwe and Zambia, gorge swinging, abseiling, river boarding and jet boating . Horse riding can also be arranged, as well as elephant back excursions nearby. Scenic flights over the Falls are an amazing way to view the gorge and river system; choose from a helicopter, fixed wing small plane or micro-light for the really adventurous. The well known Elephant Hills Hotel golf course is the perfect place to practice your golfing skills whilst chasing warthogs from the greens!
