| |
You will be transferred by light aircraft today to Khwai Airstrip for your two nights in the famous Moremi Game Reserve. Your days in this area will be spent on fascinating and exciting 4x4 game drives. This unspoilt and wild region is teaming with wildlife and species that you may hope to encounter include buffalo, elephant, giraffe, zebra, lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, antelope, crocodile and hippo as well as countless birds. Return to your campsite for an evening meal around the campfire and fall asleep to the sound of Africa. All meals included. |
Days 5&6: Savuti Elephant Camp, Chobe National Park |
| |
Travel to Savuti today via road, this game drive transfer will take around 5-6 hours and will bring you through the remainder of the Moremi Reserve and into the drier, more open Chobe National Park. Camp for two nights next to the dry Savute channel. This fascinating area used to be a lush Eden with water flowing from the Linyanti in the north, via the Savute channel to the Savute marsh and providing habitat for huge pods of hippo. The Savute channel has periodically dried up throughout history, and no water has flowed here since the early 1980's, tectonic movement is probably responsible for this sporadic flow. The wildlife here remains amazingly varied and enormous herds of migrating zebra may be seen during April/ May as well as all the species found in the Moremi Reserve. Savuti can also be a good area for cheetah, leopard and lion sightings due to the large open spaces and rocky outcrops. All meals included. |
Days 7&8: Serviced Camping, Serondela river front area of Chobe National Park
| |
From Savute you will move northwards by 4x4 vehicle (4-5 hours overland game drive) before arriving at Serondela which will be your camp for the next two nights. This is the heart of elephant country and you may spend hours watching the huge herds in and around the waters of the Chobe River on game drives or a private boat cruise. Northern Chobe is renowned for its large variety of bird and animal life, beautiful scenery and magnificent sunsets across the river and floodplain. All meals included. |
