Days 1-3: Drakensberg Mountains
 

Fly into Oliver Tambo International airport today and pick up your hire car to drive the three hours through to the Drakensberg Mountains. This area is one of the most beautiful regions of South Africa with towering mountain scenery, sparkling crystal clear streams and awe inspiring hiking trails.

You will stay at the Cathedral Peak Hotel, situated in the Central Drakensberg. Nestled in the foothills of the surrounding mountains, this luxurious hotel offers a wide range of sporting & leisure facilities including swimming pools, tennis & squash courts, climbing wall, mini-golf, gym & massage spa, trout fishing and mountain biking.

Enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of this environment, maybe visit Giant's Castle where you can view ancient San bushmen rock paintings and picnic beside secluded streams. Craft centres and tea shops are scattered throughout the area and additional optional activities include golfing, helicopter rides or mountain biking. Breakfast & dinner included.

Days 4&5: Ballito Bay, North Coast
 

Drive south from the cool highlands to the warm breezes of the Indian Ocean and Ballito Bay, 50km from Durban. This drive should take 2-3 hours. Ballito is a pretty town with clean, safe beaches, shops and restaurants and many other attractions in the surrounding area. You will stay at the Boathouse, a luxurious guest house located near to swimming beaches with wonderful views over the ocean, and close to restaurants and shops. Perhaps enjoy some day trips in the area, or just relax on the beach! Breakfast included.

Days 6-8: St. Lucia Wetlands
 

Take a scenic drive northwards along the beautiful coastal road, enjoy wonderful views across the Indian Ocean. Arrive in St. Lucia and stay for three nights at the beautiful Nibela Lake Lodge. Nibela is situated in the heart of the Lake, on the tip of the Nibela Peninsula and surrounded by forest. Access is from the False Bay shoreline where guests are met and transferred across the lake on a 20 minute boat ride. Eleven luxurious thatched lodges blend into the forest canopy, optional activities offered at the lodge include sunset boat cruises, trips to the floodplain for birding and a canoe adventure.

St. Lucia is a beautiful area, a World Heritage Site wetland of International importance and a breeding site for many species of bird as well as perfect habitat for many animals including buffalo, leopard, rhino, hippo and crocodile. There is plenty to see and do here, including day trips to Cape Vidal for stunning beaches, some whale watching and snorkeling, boat trips on the estuary and walks through the coastal dunes and surrounding inland plains. The seafood restaurants in St. Lucia are excellent! All meals, boat transfers and guided nature walks included.

Days 9&10: Border of Hluhluwe Game Reserve

Take the interesting inland road through to the Hluhluwe Game Reserve, a lush and beautiful area which is home to many wildlife species including rhino, lion, leopard and elephant. You will stay at Leopard Mountain Game Lodge, a luxurious lodge with thatch and rock chalets nestled in cliff tops overlooking the river below. From your private hammock, watch the eagles soar at eye level. Enjoy delicious cuisine and friendly hospitality. Optional game drives and day tours are available to enable you to explore this unique area. Breakfasts, dinners & most activities on the private reserve included.
Day 11: Johannesburg
  Your drive from Hluhluwe takes you north through Kwazulu - Natal and Mpumalanga to Johannesburg where you will have time to relax for one night before your onward flight. You will stay in the northern suburbs, at The Westcliff Hotel. Created in the image of a Mediterranean hillside village, The Westcliff cascades down through landscaped gardens in a series of picturesque 'villas', surrounded by lush greenery, sparkling fountains and cobbled pathways. This Hotel offers a peaceful respite from the busy city environment. Breakfast included.
Day 12: Fly out
 

Today you will drop off your hire car at Oliver Tambo airport and connect with your onward flight.
